Variety acclaims Chokher Bali

Tuesday, 21 September , 2004, 11:14

Rituparno Ghosh's Chokher Bali has been critically acclaimed in the international magazine Variety. Carrying a very positive review on the film, it comments “The magic of Aishwarya Rai's performance lies in her underplaying of Binodini's ambition to divide and conquer the household, while always playing the dutiful widow.”

The Bengali film which is an adaptation of a novel by Rabindranath Tagore by the same name, stars Bollywood beauty Aishwarya Rai with Prosenjit, Riama Sen and Tota Raychaudhuri. The film has made rounds of several international film festivals including the 56th Locarno International Film Festival (Switzerland), 28th Toronto International Film Festival (Canada), 39th Chicago International Film Festival (Illinois), 47th London Film Festival and a dozen more. The dubbed Hindi version of the film releases next week on September 24.

Meanwhile Rituparno Ghosh's first Hindi film Raincoat starring Aishwarya Rai and Ajay Devgan will be premiered at Chicago Film Festival on October 18 and in London Film Festival on October 21. Indiafm
