A big fight has broken out between Dileep and Liberty Basheer (a producer-distributor) on collection figures and fate of Runway released last year, which was distributed by ‘Swargachitra’ Appachan.
Dileep has been shouting from the roof-top that his Runway was a super hit and was upset when media did not feature the film on the top five grossers of 2004! He was peeved that they featured Kazhcha, a film distributed by Basheer as one of the big hits.
Now ‘Liberty’ Basheer a big supporter of Mammootty has hit back saying- “Runway is actually a flop. The producer who is a close friend of mine has disclosed that he lost money on the film!”.
Dileep however showed the collection figures given by its distributor ‘Swargachitra’ Appachan. It says that Runway has been screened in 491 stations and has collected a distributor’s share of Rs 3.03 Crore so far, with another 500 “C” class stations still to be covered. Dileep adds that the total cost of the film is approximately Rs 2. 10 Crore which means that the film is a super hit!
Meanwhile a top distributor said that there is a move by the monopoly superstars to play down Dileep’s achievements at the Kerala box-office!
