Chennai: PanIIT has commissioned a study on the impact of IIT alumni. Zinnov Management Consulting, which employs a significant number of IITians, is assisting PanIIT and IBEF with designing and conducting this study that's being sponsored by Vodafone.
The objective of the study is to take stock of contributions made by IITians over the last 50+ years across professions and geographies and create a fact-base for mobilising the IIT community to create a platform for finding out how IITians can do even more, individually and collectively to help building the nation.
The study will also throw light on the major contributions from the professional involvement of a broad cross-section of IITians.
The key feature of the study is the global web-based survey conducted in September/October with participation from nearly 5,000 alumni members. In addition, in-depth interviews have also been conducted with several eminent IITians. A combination of these two data gathering efforts will form the core of the report which will convey the impact story through case studies, examples and insights.
This study will make an unprecedented attempt to map the impact of IITians on the global economy across categories and impact areas such as entrepreneurship, scientific & technological achievement, as well as social, research, academic and leadership contributions. Zinnov Management Consulting is working closely with IIT alumni to design and validate the data gathering instruments, and will partner extensively with the alumni associations to encourage a very high level of participation in this unique effort.
The study's results will be declared at the PanIIT 2008 conference.
According to Santhanam, Chairman, PanIIT 2008 & Managing Director of Saint-Gobain Glass India,: "This year's conference is rich in content and we are extremely excited about the participating luminaries and we believe that coming together, we will make a global impact."
