Chicken-lovers world over are a worried lot. Bird flu, or avian flu as it is called, is spreading its reach even to humans.
The H5N1 virus, the cause of bird flu in chickens and ducks, has already affected 121 humans and killed 64 people since December 2003 - 42 in Vietnam, 13 in Thailand, 5 in Indonesia and 4 in Cambodia.
It is estimated to have caused $10 billion worth of economic losses in Asia alone over this period hitting at small and medium-scale poultry farmers in Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia, China, South Korea, Japan and India.
