A stock broker watches the BSE index on his trading terminal in Mumbai on Monday.

The Indian stock market tumbled by 1,408.35 points, the biggest single-day loss, shaving off over Rs 6 trillion from investors` wealth. Although the Indian economy continues to be fundamentally strong, the plunge for the sixth straight day today was triggered by concerns in the global investor community about a recession in US, the world`s largest economy.
