Politics and cricket

Until the first week of April, everyone - and especially the TV channels - was hoping that the boredom of the summer would be mitigated by the general election and the Indian Premier League of cricket (IPL). Politics and cricket being the turn-ons that they have become, this was not an entirely unreasonable expectation.

But a week into both, it has become clear that they have become dreary bores. The puzzle, as to why this has happened, seemed worth solving. So after much thought devoted to the problem while sitting in Delhi's even more dreary traffic jams, I have come to the conclusion that equi-probability is to blame.
