Few cars can lay claim to being capable of putting a smile on every onlooker's face, even that of an infant.
The very essence of automotive design has centred around making the car look sexy. Every generation of car makers around the world has wanted their vehicles to be addressed as a 'she'.
For an industry that has been obsessed with sexing-up their cars, cuteness was never an avowed trait of choice. But, there have been exceptions - cars that have actually led onlookers to lovingly gush forth like they have just seen a biblical cherub, cars whose design never age literally and metaphorically, and cars that have led people to address them as 'it'.
The Volkswagen Beetle was one such car and Hollywood's contribution in the form of the Herbie franchise only added to this cute car's popularity. The other car that has had a similar effect thanks largely to its unique design is the Fiat 500.
