H&R Johnson, a division of BSE-listed Prism Cement Limited, in a tie-up with Walt Disney Company’s business segment Disney Consumer Products, has announced the launch of Disney-branded tiles in the Indian market.
As part of its Rs 400-crore capex plan charted 18 months ago, H&R Johnson has undertaken a technical upgradation programme at its manufacturing unit in Karaikal, Puducherry, where the Disney collection of wall tiles is being manufactured. Initially, the company is launching seven Disney themes, including Mickey, Donald and Goofy, with the price tag for a set of four to 12 tiles being in the range of Rs 3,000 to Rs 5,000.
“We estimate the market size for such niche business to be at around Rs 100 crore. And, we are aiming at cornering all of that in the first year of launch,” Dinesh Vyas, brand head, H&R Johnson (India), told mediapersons here.
H&R Johnson is also planning to scale up its retail footprint across the country by setting up 300 experience zones’ over the next two to three years.
“Of these, nearly 150 will be opened in south India. Andhra Pradesh will account for 20-30 per cent of the planned stores in south,” he added.
