The National Statistical Organization consists of two offices viz. Central Statistical Office and National Sample Survey Office. The CSO and NSSO of the National Statistical Organization are headed by the respective Director Generals.
The Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MOSPI) consists of the National Statistical Organization (NSO) and the Programme Implementation Wing, and is headed by Minister of State (Independent Charge). At the executive level, it is headed by Secretary to Government of India, who is also the Chief Statistician of India.
