The global market for mobile enterprise business apps reached nearly 25 billion dollars in 2012.
According to the analyst firm Strategy Analytics, revenue associated with mobile workers using enterprise business apps on their devices is also expected to double over the next five years.
Strategy Analytics director of business cloud strategies research Mark Levitt said that the consumer mobile experience has taught mobile workers to expect, even demand, access to information and applications from anywhere using mobile devices, Enterprise Innovation reports.
He said that mobile workers have moved beyond just mobile email and messaging to include other collaboration apps such as conferencing, productivity apps such as content authoring, and business process apps such as CRM and even ERP, the report said
According to the report, employees are feeling pressure to remain productive while in transit, or while on-site at customer or remote work sites. This is driving demand for these mobile-based productivity apps.
The trend towards enterprises setting up their own corporate app stores or catalogues is meanwhile helping to alleviate IT managers' concerns about the security implications of BYOD, the report added. (ANI)
