Apple's iPhone finally made its debut in 2008 at a price of Rs 30,000 plus. The iPhone 3G is the first one to come with a plastic-based touch screen panel, which is constructed on the PET-based touch pad technology patented by Apple. The touch screen comprises of two layers of polyethylene terephthalate, a plastic that helps Apple make thinner and cheaper touch-sensitive displays than their existing glass and plastic counterparts.
The iPhone 3G not only lets one to surf twice as much faster than the first generation phone, but has many other improvements. With the iPhone 3G, multiple e-mails can be deleted in one stroke and parental controls can be set.
Apple iPhone`s hidden features
The iPhone has Bluetooth 2.0, and it has a Bluetooth headset too. There are roughly 25 Bluetooth profiles available, but the iPhone 3G supports only two of them – the handset profile and the headset profile.
iPhone: The super brand of the decade
It had other shortcomings too. Though it has an in-built A-GPS (Assisted GPS), there’s no voice guidance, like the other GPS devices in the market.
The revolutionary phone does not feature a photoflash and it has only 2 mega-pixel camera. There`s no video recording option too.
It doesn`t even allow you to send a MMS. Yes, though you cannot send those multimedia files via message, you can, however, send them through e-mail. Despite its share of good, bad and ugly, it is still a fascinating gadget to own.
