Torrential rains in Mumbai and other parts of Maharashtra, the century’s heaviest, are reported to have caused losses of around Rs 1,000 crore in the State, till July 28, 2005.
Heavy rains in Thane, Pune, Raigarh, Ratnagiri and other industrial belts have taken a heavy toll on businesses with losses in two days amounting to about Rs 700 crore. Mumbai alone has suffered a loss of business income of about Rs 450 crore, say industry chambers.
