Samsung's second attempt at a high definition camcorder seems surefooted. Judging by how dismally its predecessor, the VP-HMX10A performed, this one appears to be a complete overhaul. With a basic bullet-shaped design, this shooter is much larger and bulkier. A monstrous lens featuring 10x optical zoom stands out quite a bit.
Other than that, the camcorder's mostly mattefinished, part-metal and part-plastic body is understatedly sleek, save for the arbitrary silver panel towards the rear. The flip-out style touch-sensitive LCD screen is an interesting addition as well. All of 2.7 inches, opening it reveals a mini-USB and composite output.
There are extra nubs for setting the flash and auto-mode amongst others, and the LCD sports a secondary record button just in case you're too lazy to access the main one near the hand grip.
