The kmpl factor

A lot has been discussed about the prices and features of the recently launched hatchbacks in the market. Each new car launched brings with itself a slew of never-before features and tries to lure the buyer.
Be it the Maruti Suzuki Wagon R with its all new K-series engine and a new platform or the Ford Figo with its big car like feel and mouth-watering price tag. All the latest hatchbacks are boasting of 'unique' features 'uncommon to the segment'.

However, there is one particular 'quality' that most hatchback buyers never fail to check in the car - the kmpl (Kilometre per litre) factor or the mileage that the car is offering. So, let us go and inspect how some of the recently launched hatchbacks fare on that front.

Ford Figo

The 1.2 Petrol Duratec engine with 1196 cc of displacement is capable of producing 71 bhp at 6250 rpm and a maximum torque of 102Nm at 4000 rpm. While the 1.4-litre Duratorq diesel engine offers 68 bhp with 160nm of torque at 2000 RPM.

The petrol version offers a mileage of about 12.5kmpl in the city and 15.5kmpl on the highway and the diesel version offers about 14.5kmpl in the city and 18.5kmpl on the highway.
