New Delhi: If exorbitant tariff had ever cast doubts on the success of the Maharaja luxury tourist train, the bookings for the high-end service have allayed such apprehensions.
The train, which costs a passenger more than Rs 1 lakh per night for the week-long journey, has registered bookings in the range of 40 to 45 per cent, said IRCTC, which is operating the train in association with Cox and Kings (India).
Railway Minister Ms Mamata Banerjee had flagged off the train which can carry 88 passengers from Kolkata on March 20.
