Unveiled: The all-new Skoda Rapid

The Skoda Rapid sedan was launched on Wednesday amid huge fanfare in New Delhi.

Rapid, the entry level C segment car from Skoda, is priced at Rs 6.75 lakh for the base variant.

It is a good pick for first-time sedan buyers in India and should not pinch their pockets hard too.

Though the car is a carbon copy of the Volkswagen Vento with which it has shares its platform, the Skoda Rapid's competitive pricing can help it as Indians are known to go for affordable cars.

As for the name, it was arrived at after many names from Skoda Lauretta to Skoda Mission did the rounds.

However, finally, Rapid's badge was affixed on the sedan.
