Watches with Panchang!

Watches with Panchang!
The Indian connection

The concept of time, the world over, is a derivative of the Gregorian calendar. The perception of a day, a month, a year and a leap year over four years that now form the worldwide basis of time is largely a Western concept.

Well before the Western calendar evolved, Indian astronomers have been watching the movement of time for several millennia. For most Indians there is a Gregorian calendar when we come to offices and an Indian Almanac when we go back to our homes!

The Indian Almanac otherwise referred to as ‘Panchang’ is based on a logic system developed through a series of mathematical calculations based on the movement of the sun, the moon and various planets. Clearly our Panchang tells us auspicious days, auspicious months and, of course, the auspicious time of the day.
