Apart from the time he spends following the game or trying to clear the mess he has landed in, what is Modi up to?
KK Modi, who owns companies like Godfrey Philips (tobacco and tea), Indofil Industries (farm chemicals) and Modicare (FMCG), is guarded when speaking about his son: He is an "important part of the family".
Modi remains on the board of directors of group companies.
The family council (Bina and KK Modi, their children Lalit, Samir and Charu, and all the grandchildren) meets regularly in Delhi, and Modi, along with his wife and children, participates from London by video link. Modi did not respond to the email sent him.
There was talk that Modi might be spearheading some business in Europe, but the family does not confirm it.
On his website, which painstakingly lists details of the legal cases and media coverage, including the video and transcript of a rare interview he gave to BBC after leaving the country, business makes for a small section. "Lalit currently lives in London where he is pursuing a number of new and typically exciting ventures," says the site.
