IPL, meanwhile, has changed after Modi.
Shishir Hatangadi, former Mumbai cricketer and a former director with Mumbai Indians, feels that IPL after Modi has become more "calm".
"There seemed no transparency in the system and he [Modi] appeared like a feudal lord," says Hatangadi.
He believes that the idea of IPL clearly was to help Indian cricket and cricketers, to make them financially secure. But there seems to be a certain fatigue setting in, he adds.
Hatangadi is of the opinion that lack of viewership and falling ad rates would have happened - or rather, will happen - even if Modi was around.
"We are trying to give it a more serious image," says a BCCI official.
