The Al Salamah was built in the late 1990s for the late crown prince of Saudi Arabia, Prince Sultan bin Abdul Aziz, in Germany by HDW and Lurssen Yachts. Details about much of the ship is secret, but it is believed to have over 80 rooms, a helipad and an indoor swimming pool with a glass roof.
During its construction it was code named "Mipos," standing for "Mission Impossible" because it was built after only two years and cost in excess of $200 million. The ship can accommodate 40 guests and 96 crewmembers.
