A tepid Sensex

After a choppy ride amid alternate bouts of buying and selling, the market ended flat on Monday.

Though Asian markets ended mostly lower, European markets traded firm, aiding sentiment to an extent.

The Sensex ended at 18,441.27 (provisional) with a loss of 8.96 points or 0.05%.

The Nifty closed at 5545.20, down 8.05 points or 0.14%.

FMCG, consumer durables, pharma and oil stocks edged higher.

Power and automobile stocks too found some support.

Realty and PSU stocks ended on a mixed note.

Metal, bank, capital goods and IT stocks traded weak.

Midcap and smallcap stocks were mostly subdued amid lackluster trades.

The market breadth was slightly weak.
