Of late diesel cars have been the favorite among Indian masses, as petrol prices peaked to record highs in the country. The 1990s was an era that witnessed lethargic naturally aspirated diesels cars.
However, things improved in the 2000s with the incorporation of air sucking turbochargers in diesel engines, which limited the initial lag dramatically and provided greater torque. People soon shifted to diesel cars due to their drivability, refinement, reduced NVH, greater torque than petrol engines and of course, the lower price of diesel.Text
