Airlines stocks are moving in a tight range amid cautious moves today. IndiGo is up 0.7% and SpiceJet is trading marginally up, while Jet Airways is down by about 1%.
Data released by the Directorate of Civil Aviation shows domestic airlines carried 86.72 lakh passengers during the month of October 2016. That was up 23.18% over the number of passengers flown in October last year.
IndiGo topped the list of airliners, carrying 42.6 lakh passengers in the month. Jet Airways and Air India flew 14.7 lakh and 13 lakh passengers, respectively, while SpiceJet flew 12.9 lakh passengers in the month. GoAir flew 7.9 lakh passengers, while AirAsia and Vistara flew 2.7 lakh passengers each.
The passenger load factor among the domestic airliners was the highest in SpiceJet, coming in at 91.9%. IndiGo recorded a load factor or 84.9% in the month, while GoAir and AirAsia India registered 84.4% and 78.3%, respectively.
