BlackBerry manufacturer Research in Motion has announced the launch of BlackBerry Messenger (BBM) music service and two new smart phone handsets.

According to The Telegraph, BBM Music will cost 4.99 pounds per month after a free 60-day trial period.

The service features tracks from record labels Universal, Sony, Warner and EMI, and integration with BlackBerry Messenger (BBM) contacts.

BlackBerry claimed that, "the more friends you are connected to on BBM, the bigger your music library becomes".

The announcements came as the company acquired over eight million UK subscribers, and claimed a 40 percent growth in its worldwide subscriber base to 165 million smartphones.

The company also launched new devices, the Bold 9790 and Curve 9380, based on BlackBerry's new version 7 OS.

It features a slimmer design and enhanced social media and multimedia integration, as well as a high-resolution display.

The new BlackBerry Curve 9380 is the first in the Curve range with a touch display.

According to the report, the Bold 9790, which will be available in the UK early next year, uses a 1 GHz processor, and includes 8GB of onboard memory and an expandable memory card slot that supports up to 32 GB of additional storage.

The Curve 9380, set to be launched in the UK in late November, features a 3.2" high resolution display and comes with preinstalled social networking apps, including BBM, Facebook, Twitter and Social Feedsas well as a 5MP camera with flash and video recording. (ANI)
