Cisco Systems, the leading provider of networking equipment and network management, on Tuesday launched in India the Cisco Virtual Office (CVO), a secure solution that allows employees to work from home or remote sites with the same set-up in their offices.
The plug-and-play office comes with a price tag of $700 per seat, and allows employees access to secure, voice-caliber solutions that provide voice, wireless and video services.
As more companies join the green brigade and trim travel costs in wake of growing airfare and hotel bills, the product is likely to find many takers.
Robert Berlin, director (product management), Cisco, said that the virtual office enhances the benefits of remote working by offering office-caliber technology “wrapped in a security blanket”.
“It allows businesses to stay agile and, in some cases, provide eco-friendly alternative to commuting,” he said.
Cisco has devised customised solutions for the remote and head-end site.
A remote user may not be a networking professional but can work from the site or home by connecting the Cisco 800 Series Integrated Services Router to the internet and downloading a pre-defined configuration that is in sync with his office set-up.
