The trade and taxes department of the Delhi government on Friday issued show cause notices to at least 51,500 dealers on charges of defaults and tax evasion.
H Rajesh Prasad, the commissioner for the department of Value Added Taxes was quoted as saying in a PTI report that the action was to meet revenue targets as well as ensure compliance of GST provisions.
The department will keep a vigil on suspicious and unlawful trading activities of dealers to track bogus billing and non-carrying of e-way bills.
Furthermore, the department is expected to file notices to non-filers of return GSTR-3B.
The commissioner was further quoted as saying, "We will also conduct physical verification of at least 10 per cent new registrants/tax payers, on the basis of risk assessment, to curb issuance of bogus invoices."
