Fund managers see red as market slides

The equity benchmark indices closed at their lowest levels in more than three months, below their 200-day moving average levels, as the rupee depreciated further against the US dollar and plans to review tax treaties with Mauritius dampened investor sentiment. Three of the four fund managers of Smart Portfolios Season 4 remained active, and Ashish Mittal, fund manager – PMS, Centrum Wealth, only managed to maintain his portfolio value above Rs 10 lakh.

Parikh carried out seven transactions. He bought GRUH Finance, ICICI Bank, Allahabad Bank, Pantaloon Retail and Power Finance Corporation. He exited Tata Consultancy Services and Idea Cellular. His current top holdings include ICICI Bank, Allahabad Bank, Ipca Laboratories, Infrastructure Development Finance Company and Hindalco Industries.

Parikh’s net worth is at Rs 9.89 lakh, down 1.08 per cent.

Fund Manager (PMS), Centrum Wealth

Mittal carried out six transactions. He exited BASF India and bought shares in Clariant Chemicals (India), Coal India and Bombay Burmah Trading Corporation, among others. His top holdings include Tide Water Oil Co (I), Balmer Lawrie & Co, Karur Vysya Bank, J B Chemicals & Pharmaceuticals and Bombay Burmah Trading Corporation.

Mittal’s net worth stands at Rs 10.13 lakh, up 1.26 per cent.

Head (technical and derivatives research), Geojit BNP Paribas Financial Services

Mathews carried out nine transactions, all on the sell side. He exited BF Utilities, Lovable Lingerie, Raymond, Century Textiles and Industries, ITC, Parsvnath Developers, IVRCL Assets & Holdings, Aptech and Escorts. His current top holdings include Aptech, Escorts, Hindustan Unilever, Tech Mahindra and MRF.

Mathews’ net worth totals Rs 9.70 lakh, down 2.99 per cent.

Co-head (investment banking), Emkay Global

Parmar was inactive. His current top holdings include IVRCL, KSK Energy Ventures, Indiabulls Financial Services, Nestle India and Bata India.

Parmar’s net worth is valued at Rs 9.82 lakh, down 1.82 per cent.
