Hyderabad-based Prevent NCD Foundation, formed by cardiologists, entrepreneurs and fitness management experts, on Friday launched HAPPI (Health Awareness Promotion – project India), to spread awareness on non communicable diseases NCDs among IT and corporate professionals.

Four of the major NCDs – heart disease, cancer, lung disease and diabetes – are increasing globally and linked with risk factors, including tobacco use, unhealthy diet and lack of physical activity.

The main focus of HAPPI is to spread awareness among the young and urban professionals, who are vulnerable to NCDs, said Ramesh Babu, founder, Prevent NCD Foundation and MD of Medwin Hospitals. With a target to reach 200,000 professionals in two years, the project would be launched on a pilot basis by taking 3-5 companies in the next two weeks. Later, it would be expanded to 50 companies and other cities.
