It is no secret that the rising petrol prices in India have led to a sudden increase in the demand for diesel cars. In the face of such changing demands, a lack of relevant options can seriously hurt car manufacturers in India.
That is exactly what has been bothering Honda Cars India for some time now.
While other car manufacturers have resorted to offering heavy discounts or going green with CNG or LPG, Honda India has come up with a strategy that will win a lot of hearts across the entire country.
The company recently announced that they are gearing up to introduce about three or four diesel variants in their sedan and compact utility vehicle line-up. Though the additions are set to happen over a period of two-three years, Honda made it obvious that they have already got down to work with the announcement that their first diesel-fuelled car will be built on the Honda Brio platform and has been codenamed 2TP.
The company has been working on a diesel engine for the Indian market for some time, and if the reports are anything to judge by, the first Honda car to receive it will be the saloon version of the Honda Brio.
Adding some substance to these rumours is the teaser spotted on Honda Thailand's official website.
Rumoured to be launched in April 2013, the pictures of the Honda Brio Sedan give readers a preview of the commendable efforts done with the car's design.
