The income tax department conducted a search at offices of engineering and construction company Punj Lloyd till late on Wednesday. The reason for the search and the location of offices at which the search was conducted could not be confirmed.
An official in the income tax department confirmed the searches were done on Wednesday and got over on Thursday.
A spokesperson of the company, when asked, said, "This is a routine enquiry done by the income tax authorities. We are in full co-operation with them and information sought by them is being provided. We are a listed company, audited by SR Batliboi_Ltd-BTC.html class='bluetext' target='_blank'>Batliboi & Co, and follow good corporate governance practices."
The official spokesperson of the Central Board of Direct Taxes declined to comment.
