IBM to partner 5 more colleges in Guj for smarter education

As part of its smarter education initiative, IBM India plans to partner five more colleges in Gujarat. The IT major has already been partnering six such educational institutions, wherein IBM India has been training around 1,000 students in technology solutions in Gujarat. IBM has a branch office in Ahmedabad, a virtual branch office in Surat and presence through local business partners and retailers in many other locations. There are plans to open IBM offices in other cities including Vadodara, Rajkot, and Jamnagar.

"We have asserted our commitment to the state of Gujarat by building on our workforce and business partner network in local state with trained skills. Adoption of IBM hardware, software, infrastructure services, consulting services and outsourcing support services have proven to give immense benefits to clients like Amul, and Auro University," said Vivek Mehta, vice president and territory executive - west, general business, India/South Asia, IBM India Pvt. Ltd.

One of its client, Auro University has set-up a hi-tech network environment on their campus with help of IBM doing the design, implementation and management of networking infrastructure for the university and hotel facility in Surat, the biggest networking deployment in the city by IBM India.

IBM has also been running programs like KidSmart and On Demand Community in Gujarat which aim to build awareness of IT and provide computer training to young population. IBM is committed to strengthen its position among the significant base of clients in Gujarat as an end-to-end provider of technology and business solutions that help clients make their business and work smarter.

IBM has expanded its operations from metro cities to tier II, III cities to establish its presence in 22 locations.
