Amul was founded in 1946 in response to the exploitation of Gujarat's dairy farmers. Currently, Amul handles 7.4 million litres of milk daily, covering 11,615 village societies. Amul products are available in over 5 lakh retail outlets across the country. Amul has also gone hi-tech. Amul was one of the first fast-moving consumer goods companies in India to employ Internet technologies to implement B2C commerce.
