Mumbai, March 7 (IANS) Knowledge management has become a key item on the corporate agenda and is increasingly seen as an enabler fostering an organisation's ability to innovate, industrialists said here Thursday.

Speaking at the inauguration of Confederation of Indian Industries' Knowledge Management Summit 2013, CII president Adi Godrej said that the good news is that we have excellent companies with excellent practices to pull from.

"The bad news is that we don't have enough platforms by which these practices spread," he said.

Godrej said that one such platform is this annual CII summit, which brings together various stakeholders from industry, academia, public sector, and society to enter into learning, discussion and debate.

Ganesh Natarajan who has been leading the initiative for the CII since 2011 pointed out that the focus has moved from just technology to include business processes, organisation culture and leadership, all of which contribute to the effective management of knowledge in organisations.

Chief marketing and knowledge officer of Booz & Company, Tom Stewart, managing director of McKinsey & Company Noshir Kaka, Chairman & geography managing director of Accenture India Avinash Vashistha and many others were present at the summit.

The annual Indian MAKE (most admired knowledge enterprise) Awards, recognising the best Indian organisations in the knowledge management was given out to the Tata Consultancy Services.

The day long summit also had other activities including master classes on building a knowledge strategy and workshops on related subjects.
