On Friday (March 8, 2019), locals near Kihim beach, a popular spot, woke up to the noise of blasts and clamour surrounding a bungalow.
Locals believed that the bungalow, belonging to Nirav Modi, could have been a treasure trove left behind by the absconding diamantaire. After all, this was the very house that the once famous diamantaire used as a launchpad for his private shows.
But, law enforcement officials have ruled out possibilities of extracting any valuables from this bungalow. The Roopanya bungalow was to be brought down since it flouted several coastal regulation norms. There was significant pressure on local agencies including the District Collector's Office to bring the structure down after the Punjab National Bank reported of Nirav Modi's heist.
The exercise of bringing down the structure was hanging with various legal agencies and the bank itself claiming a stake in the bungalow.
Roopanya has been finally brought down. But, the ruins of this structure narrates a sad tale of its master's disgrace.
