| Sensex ends in the red | SIFY | |
| The Sensex and Nifty ended lower again, with profit taking dragging down blue chip stocks. Though Asian markets ended on a mixed note, major European markets moved higher. The Sensex ended around 19,793 (provisional), losing more than 100 points or 0.51%. The Nifty closed at 6004.60, down 30.15 points or 0.5%. Realty stocks declined after recent strong gains. Bank, metal and capital goods stocks too mostly ended weak. Information technology, auto, power and FMCG stocks closed on a mixed note. PSU oil stocks had a good outing. Consumer durables and healthcare stocks moved up. Midcap and smallcap stocks moved up early on, but ended off their highs. The market breadth was slightly positive. |
