Hong Kong financial regulators are investigating a Macau casino operator controlled by U.S. billionaire Sheldon Adelson's Las Vegas Sands Corp.
Sands China Ltd. said in a brief statement to the Hong Kong stock exchange that it's being investigated by the city's Securities and Futures Commission.
The company said the probe is related to "alleged breaches" of financial regulations and the SFC has asked for "certain documents." It said it can't comment further.
The announcement comes as the former CEO of Sands China is suing the company, accusing it of demanding he engage in illegal activity. Sands has said he was fired for making unauthorized deals and violating company policy. It's unclear if the investigation is related.
