Mir Projects & Consultants - the project management and consultancy arm of Mir Group - has been awarded the consultancy to develop a master plan for traffic management at Andaman & Nicobar Islands. The consultancy has been awarded through a global bid issued by the Centre. The Ministry of Tourism states that the number of tourists to the islands will grow by over 100 per cent in the next 20 years.
In addition to upcoming tourism projects, the Ministry of Shipping is planning a major trans-shipment port at the southern-most island of Great Nicobar to take advantage of the islands’ strategic location on the major East-West shipping route.
Proposed to be completed in 10 months, the plan will define the air, sea and road traffic infrastructure to provide cost effective travel between the islands and the mainland. The company will be developing the plan in association with Prointec, its international partner from Spain. Prointec is into traffic and transport consulting, a release said.
