India's GRT Jewellers has come up with a first-of-its-kind gold earrings that weigh one kilogramme.
GRT's mammoth three sets of handcrafted one kg earrings, perhaps the largest in the world, resembled mini chandeliers.
South Indian diva Nayantara has unveiled the monumental pieces of jewellery in Dubai on Thursday. The exclusive jewellery is priced around Dirham 200,000 (around Rs 36 lakh).
Designed in the traditional Indian 'jhumka' style, the handcrafted 22-carat earrings have been displayed to pay tribute to the City of Gold and to commemorate GRT's successful journey of 50 years," said GR Anand Ananthapadmanabhan, the group's managing director, reported Khaleej Times.
"We wanted to impress Dubai with something special and big," he told Khaleej Times. The firm wished to apply for the Guinness World Record for the world's largest gold earrings as well, he added.
Ananthapadmanabhan said the firm was open to selling the collectors' pieces to interested customers.
