NGT asks Kurnool Forest officer to submit report on tree felling case against Reliance Jio

The National Green Tribunal has directed the Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) of Kurnool district in Andhra Pradesh to inquire about alleged tree felling by Reliance Jio while laying optical fibre cable.

A National Green Tribunal bench on Thursday has been reported as directing the Divisional Forest Officer of Kurnool (Andhra Pradesh) to inquire into a case of tree-felling filed against Reliance Jio.

NGT Chairperson Justice Adarsh Kumar Goel has asked the DFO to verify facts and submit a report within a month.

Andhra Pradesh native C Janardana Reddy had alleged that Reliance Jio while laying underground fibre-optic cable from Nannur to Veldurthi village up-rooted fully grown trees using heavy machinery.
