The income tax department has extended child care leave for India Against Corruption activist Arvind Kejriwal's wife, Sunita Kejriwal. The Indian revenue service officer, who is of the same batch as her husband, is additional commissioner of income tax (officer on special duty) with the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT). She had gone on leave last year. In a special order issued on November 8, the CBDT extended the leave to September 2013.
Ms Kejriwal was earlier working with the Serious Fraud Investigation Office under the ministry of corporate affairs but was later called back to her parent cadre. The leave extension has been granted amid widespread discussion of the fact that Mr Kejriwal and his wife, unlike many civil servants, were never transferred away from coveted postings in Delhi.
