Kolkata: Tata Motors' Nano factory in West Bengal's Singur area stayed closed on Monday, its third back-to-back manday lost, with the company stating that the situation was not conducive to resuming work.
No end in sight for Singur stalemate
"The conditions in Singur are still not conducive for resuming work today (Monday). We continue to assess the situation closely," a Tata Motors spokesperson said in a statement.
There was no work in the factory on Friday and Saturday due to the ongoing indefinite siege by the Trinamool Congress-led opposition, which is demanding return of 400 acres taken for the project from "unwilling farmers".
