Barcelona: Nokia announced a line-up of new phones and services at the Mobile World Conference 2009 at Barcelona on Monday.
HCL Tech in outsourcing pact with Nokia
The products included four new handsets - two additions to its E series, and one to its Navigator series, and another one to its Classic standard candybar series.
Nokia also launched the Ovi Store, a new service that consolidates and expands some of Nokia’s existing services with an added twist of social media and location based information.

All of the launches have a common objective - deliver the power and benefit of the Internet and email to more and more people. Two of the handsets announced today and the Ovi Store make email and Internet easier to access.

E series
The devices and services announced today reflect Nokia’s approach to delivering solutions that have a big impact at an affordable price, without the need to compromise or cut corners.”
Both E series handsets competed for importance. The E75, announced first, comes at a higher price point - €375 unsubsidised. This phone will become available in stores next month. It is expected to take over from the Communicator series, and sports a standard phone keypad as well as a slide out landscape qwerty keyboard.
Check Point signs pact with Nokia
The other E series phone announced today, the E55, sports a classic candybar phone form factor and shape but has a compact qwerty keypad. The model is also priced very attractively - €265 unsubsidised. It will be available from this summer.
The Nokia 6720 classic is expected to begin shipping in the second quarter of 2009 at an estimated retail price of €245 before taxes and subsidies. The Nokia 6710 Navigator will join in the third quarter with an estimated retail price of €300, before taxes and subsidies.
Check Point signs pact with Nokia
The Ovi Store, expected to open in May, will offer people targeted content based on their social connections and physical location, or what Nokia calls ‘Social Location’. Content providers will be able to get their work into the store via a single channel, Publish.Ovi.com, which will be open for content from February 16.
“We believe that with our global scale and our drive to personalise the Internet through services like ‘Social Location,’ we are well-positioned to set new benchmarks in innovation and enhanced Internet services that will benefit everyone,” he said.
“These solutions will make it easier for people to find and prioritise the things that really matter to them in their personal and professional lives, through cool new applications, improved mobile navigation and one-touch email access,” he added.
