Open interest jumps for DLF, RCom, ICICI Bank

The NSE Nifty closed at 2786.75, a discount of about eight points against the spot close of 2794.7. The Nifty future on Tuesday had closed almost on par with the spot close. The widening of discount, indicates, fresh accumulation of short positions, particularly during the second half of trading. The Nifty June future added about 4.20 lakh shares in open interest.

Among index options, Nifty 2800 call was the most active. It added about 2.31 lakh shares in open interest positions; the 2800 and 2700 puts witnessed accumulated 11.11 lakh shares and the 9.23 lakh shares respectively. The 2900 call saw an accumulation of 14.38 lakh shares, most of which were on the writing (selling) side.

Stock futures

Most stock futures witnessed unwinding of long position to book profits. Contracts on Reliance Communications (38.76 lakh shares), ICICI Bank (28.72 lakh shares) and DLF (25.16 lakh shares) witnessed heavy accumulations in open interest positions.

On the other hand, Reliance Infrastructure and L&T shed open positions.

SBI witnessed accumulation of short positions. It added 8.27 lakh shares and closed at 960.25 against the spot close of 960.3. BHEL also added short positions; it closed at 1437 against the spot close of 1459.25.
