New Delhi: Chinese smartphone maker OPPO is set to introduce the Reno series in India on May 28. The Reno Series is a 5G enabled device and among the first to offer a beta version of Android Q. This launch is hence expected to strengthen Oppo's position among premium segment.
The Reno series will be will be available in all markets where the company operates, said the company in a statement on Monday.
"After receiving tremendous appreciation at the recent launches in China and Europe, OPPO Reno is set to make its way to India," the company added.
The Reno series will target "young trendsetters with a passion for self-expression and imagining the unimaginable. As the epitome of OPPO's creative vision, Reno will serve as the catalyst for its smartphone development in India for the next 10 years," it said.
OPPO said it has also crafted a new brand imagery that reveals a much simpler, symmetrical logo.
"With characteristic OPPO curves, the new logo is distinctive yet elegant and offers a design, which leaves ample, room for imagination," the company said.
Oppo's latest device, Reno, was featured at Google's I/O 2019 at California. The Reno device sports a Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 A/E chipset. It has 8 GB RAM, 256 GB Storage. The 6.4 inch display reportedly features 402 ppi and has a single front and dual back cameras.
OPPO launched the Reno series for the European market on April 24th. The Reno series includes Reno 5G, Reno 10x Zoom and Reno models. "The Reno 5G model features a full panoramic screen and innovatively conceals the front-facing camera, soft light and back flash within a Pivot-Rising Structure that rises on demand," said a release during the launch.
"It also comes with a full-focal length tri-lens rear camera which works to realize a full-focal-length of 16mm-160mm, thus achieving 10x hybrid zoom. The phone is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 mobile platform, 8GB+256GB storage, and a 4,065mAh battery, which together drive an outstanding high-performance user experience," added the release.
This is a 5G device and will be among the first batch of smartphones to offer Android Q beta version.
There is no confirmation on price, however the Reno was sold in Swisscom retail stores starting at a price of CHF 999 (approximately Rs 70,125).
