Petronet signs long-term LNG deal with Gazprom

Petronet LNG, the nation's largest liquefied natural gas importer, today posted a growth of 73% in the net profit for the third quarter ended December, 2011, at Rs 295 crore.

The net profit for the corresponding quarter in the previous stood at Rs 171 crore.

During the period, net sales rose by 74% to Rs 6,330 crore from Rs 3,628 crore in the same quarter last fiscal.

According to a release with the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) , total income increased 75% to Rs 6,346.65 crore for the quarter from Rs 3,633 crore for the same quarter a year ago from the current quarter of financial year 2012.

At 1207 hours, the shares of the firm were trading up by 2% at Rs 167 per share on the BSE.
