US-based telecom service provider Qualcomm Inc Wednesday said it has submitted an application with the Indian government to bid for broadband wireless access spectrum.
The US-based company is interested in the 2.3 GHz band which facilitates the deployment of broadband wireless technology offering high-speed data and voice connectivity, apart from high-end multimedia services similar to wimax, it said in a statement.
The government hopes to decide the winners of the auction next month. Two slots of radio bandwidth for broadband services are being auctioned for which the base reserve price for an a pan-India rollout has been set at Rs.1,750 crore.
Qualcomm, a leading developer and innovator of advanced digital wireless communications products and services, said that after completion of the auction, it proposes to rope in Indian partners based on the given guidelines.
