Jaipur, Nov 24 (IANS) Exhibitors are enthused by the large number of visitors and the business deals made at the "Vastra 2012" textiles expo here and the overall response has been beyond expectations, Rajasthan's Chief Secretary C.K. Mathew said Saturday.
"The response has been beyond expectations and the challenge now is to build on the goodwill which has been created," Mathew said at the textiles exposition "Vastra 2012", co−organised by RIICO and the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) here.
The four−day event, which ends Sunday, has attracted a large number of visitors. A number of business−to−business meetings were also conducted at the event.
After going around the exhibition ground, Mathew said the feedback from the participants were very encouraging.
"We would like to sustain this momentum," he said.
Sunil Arora, chairman RIICO, who accompanied the chief secretary during his visit to the exhibition, said the Rajasthan government was laying a lot of emphasis on the development of textiles sector.
Exhibitors participating at "Vastra 2012" also gave a thumbs up to the exhibition, as most of them said it was like a dream come true.
"A lot of textile fairs are organised in New Delhi and other parts of the country, but Rajasthan has the ideal ambience, right amount space and a thriving textile business community to justify a textile fair," said Lalit Thukral, managing director, Maharana of India.
Raju Khatri, another exhibitor, said there has been a rush of buyers and he is unable to have discussions with everyone.
"I already have got six orders and given away at least 20 samples," Khatri said.
Spread over 5,000 sq mts, the highlights of the "Vastra 2012" event include live demonstrations of traditional craft, business shows, concurrent conferences and buyer−seller meetings. Some 170 exhibitors, covering the entire sector, are participating through 400 stalls.
