The 1980s Bofors scandal was the biggest by-word for corruption for quite some time, challenged only by 2G and Coalgate in UPA2 thanks to the sheer scale and scope of those scams.
But if there's one scandal that promises to dwarf all scams, then it has to be West Bengal's Saradha Group scam, the Ponzi scheme that backfired big time.
This is one scam that covers almost every field that you can think of and has something from every angle....

A charge sheet filed in 1999 by CBI had named Italian businessman Ottavio Quattrocchi (inset), who was close to the Gandhi family,as one of the accused in the case of alleged kickbacks for the supply of the 55mm Swedish artillery guns to the Indian Army. Quattrocchi was discharged by the Tis Hazari court on 4 March 2011 from the payoffs case and he died on 13 July 2013 (aged 74) in Italy.
