Diesel hike, QE3 boost Sensex, Nifty

The market started higher, but gave up gains and ended flat after remaining subdued amid lackluster trades on Monday.

Lack of triggers from the domestic front and weakness in Asian and European markets rendered price movements sluggish.

The Sensex ended at 19,410.09 (provisional) with a loss of around 14 points or 0.07%.

The Nifty closed at 5905.40, diwb 2 points or 0.03%.

Consumer durables, information technology and oil stocks drifted lower.

Capital goods, automobile and power stocks too mostly traded weak.

Metal, FMCG and bank stocks ended on a mixed note.

Realty and healthcare stocks had a good outing.

Select midcap and smallcap stocks moved up smartly.

The market breadth was slightly positive.
