It was a rather quiet session for stocks on the major Indian bourses where trading was on for 90 minutes from 11.15 am to 12.45 pm today, as the National Stock Exchange tested its upgraded Futures & Options trading software.
With no big triggers to warrant any strong buying or selling, movements were quite choppy during the short session. Activity was mostly stock specific amid extremely this volumes with not many investors turning out for trading.

The BSE benchmark Sensex
ended at 15,848.80 with a loss of 18.93 points or 0.12%. The barometer touched a high of 15,900.30 and a low of 15,835.29 during the session.
The National Stock Exchange's 50-stock Nifty
index, which surged to 4759.40 early on in the session, settled at 4746.90, down 7.20 points or 0.15% from Friday's closing mark.
PSU, realty and select consumer durables, capital goods and power stocks moved up. Metal, pharmaceuticals and IT stocks ended on a mixed note. Bank, FMCG and oil stocks drifted down a bit.
Jaiprakash Associates lost 2.3% on selling pressure following the market regulator imposing a fine on some of the promoters of the company for alleged insider trading. ICICI Bank

posted modest losses.
DLF gained a little over 1%. Maruti Suzuki

ended with a handsome gain of 8.4%. Hindustan Copper

gained 3.5% - 7.75%.
The market breadth was strong. Out of 2306 stocks seen in action on BSE, 1570 stocks moved up. 652 stocks declined and 84 stocks ended flat.
